He began painting in 1990, and his work, much in the style of Damien Hirst's simple drawings and watercolors, sparked interest and by 1994 gained him his first New York solo exhibition. At the same, time he began exploring photography and creating zines, producing them prolifically. His work documents and is inspired by the lives of skateboarders as well as his own personal life. Now with many more publications under his belt and exhibitions around the world, Templeton is enjoying fame as a skateboarder, artist, and even vegan. This book was published to coincide with Templeton's exhibition "The Golden Age of Neglect" at the Alleged Gallery in December of 1999; it was limited to a printing of 2,000 copies. The book won a $50,000 prize in Italy's Search for Art competition, and it features, just as the title says, images of young people smoking.AS NEW, SCARCE. Teenage Smokers is a staple-bound, softcover book with pictorial wrappers, measuring 8.5 x 7 inches and containing numerous reproductions in 40 pages.
