New lower Buy It Now price NOTE: This is the last time I will list this book. If it does not sell it is going back into the bookcase, and it will be a long time - if ever - before you have a shot at another copy. I know it's a lot of dough for most of us, but this is a legitimately rare book. The photographer himself does not even own a copy. So what are you waiting for? Santerineross created this book from start to finish. Printing the pages, folding, binding, making the elaborately covered hard covers. The construction of each book took more than a week. He made less than 20 of these books back in 1999, and sold them for $250 per copy. The frayed corners you see, and the air pockets in the end pages are all original to the way the book arrived from the artist in 1999. It is a rough, handmade production, as I believe it was meant to be, in keeping with the aesthetic of the photographs. It has been stored safely in a rigid enclosure for 9 years, never exposed to the elements or handled more than a few times. I am not including a lot of pictures of the actual photos. If you are reading this and own a commercially printed copy of Fruit Of The Secret God, you know what to expect. This edition of the book has 45 printed pages, 19 photographic images. I don't have a copy of the commercially printed edition, so I can't say whether all these images are in that book, or if that book contained images this one does not. The pages appear to be Giclée printed. I suspect, from my correspondence with Santerineross while the book was being made, that he printed the pages as needed. If someone placed and order, he would produce the pages and go through the binding process. It's kind of hard to explain how the pages were bound. Imagine folding a bunch of 11 x 17 paper in half so it forms 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheets. now stack those up and bind the open ends of the sheets. Then the outside edges - the part you turn while reading - are actually folds, not cut edges. Definitely an odd method of putting together a text block, but considering how the pages were printed, it was likely done to maintain the quality of the images and minimize bleed-through or see-through. Cover is 9 x 11 inches. pages 8.5 x 11 inches. As you can see, he expected to produce 100 of the books. This copy is #12. He ended up producing less than 20 (I seem to remember him saying less than 15 in an email from 1999). Here is a recent email from Santerineross regarding the book: "Wow a flash from the past. Thank you for writing. I do not believe I ended up making very many of them. I could not be accurate to be honest, but I do not think more than 20 or so. So hold on to that. :) I ended up publishing FRUIT and now the printing sold out, it is out of print and a collectors item. I only have 2 copies of the published FRUIT left." As you can see, Santerineross himself does not even have a copy of this book. Only a couple copies of the commercially printed edition of 2000. That edition is sold out, of course, and fetches a premium price on the used book market. It is quite unlikely that are you are ever going to find another copy of this rare, significant work. Will not sell/ship to users in Italy or Africa, for the usual reasons.
