Description
Happy bidding, happy and peaceful reading! A very rare and lovely book, and very scarse. Only 500 copies were ever issued of this version of Sinbad the Sailor and Other Stories from The Arabian Nights, as a limited signed edition illustrated by Edmund Dulac. This version of Sinbad The Sailor and Other Stories From the Arabian Nights is nearly 100 years old. Many of the drawings are well known as the epitome of Golden Age and Art Nouveau illustration. Enjoy! Book: Sinbad the Sailor and Other Stories from The Arabian Nights, superbly illustrated by Edmund Dulac. HODDER & STOUGHTON, LONDON, no date but circa 1914. First Edition, limited to 500 copies only and signed by Edmund Dulac on limitation page. Elaborate fine quality binding, gilt-stamped and gilt-ruled quarter tooled leather, Florentine marbled paper free endpapers. Large and impressive quarto, 28cm X 24cm X 5cm approximately, substantial thick volume which is a pleasure to peruse and to handle. Twenty-three stunning tipped-in plates on green cardstock mounts under captioned tissue guards, the text and plates on decorative bordered pages and mounts. A beautiful, ornate, elaborate production of Sinbad And The Arabian Nights. Fantastic illustrations. Top Edge Gilt, others uncut. Book condition: An excellent copy. Externally, VERY NR FINE. Minor negligible wear to edges. INTERNALLY, VERY NR FINE. Slight discolouration to edges of the endpapers due to the proximity of leather covers, as is typical. Light fold to the tissue over the frontispiece, otherwise no finger marks or any issues of note whatsoever - this copy appears unread.
