Even the rarest piece, the loosely issued title page is present in my copy. Esopus in Europa by Romeyn de Hooghe : First edition of a extremely rare collection of 35 of the 40 separately published political fables, published under the pseudonym of "Esopus" by Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708), famous Dutch artist and book illustrator. Published in 1701-1702 the fables sharply comment upon the political situation in Europe just before and after the death of Charles II of Spain. Each fable was illustrated with a large engraving on the title-page, and after they reached a total of 40, they were published collected, under the title "Esopus in Europa" (Aesop in Europe), and later also republished at the Hague in 1738-1739, both separately and collected. Political pamphlets in the manner of Aesop's Fables, with captivating engravings by Romeyn de Hooghe. Though there were forty in the complete series, they were issued over a span of two years, and complete ones are rarely found, and even incomplete sets are quite uncommon. =Landwehr 95 Condition : very good : vellum binding has a small crack on the lower front hinge. Binding else fine and tight. A few pages have a very light marginal waterstain, not affecting prints or readability. A few pages have a little stain, also not affecting integrity of the work. If he would have done so, he would have been refunded fully and this feedback would have been absolutely unnecessary. This is a damage for my reputation, which is 100% fully honest and as always a guarantee for quality, as you can see from my other positive feedbacks. With kindest regards.
