Description
“1992” Photography by Larry Clark Published by Thea Westreich, New York, and Gisela Capitain, Köln, Germany 1993 Larry Clark wants to get into the deepest, darkest corners of the young mind, perhaps simply because that's where the most interesting things are going on. Accused of disseminating pornography with this book, titled 1992, which explores the emerging sexuality of adolescent boys, Clark has responded that it is simply reality. FROM THE ARTIST: "It's real things happening; it's not set up. I mean why can't you photograph everything about life? Why can't you photograph intimate moments? People say, 'Oh no, I can't take a picture of that.' Why can't you? People photograph your first communion, why can't you photograph your first blowjob? It's part of life. That's why it's not porn." In all his works – such as his debut, the seminal Tulsa, and his well-known and controversial film "Kids" – Clark has refused to accept societal rules of decency as a ceiling. All that matters to him is what is true and real. That the disturbing nature of the subject matter grows exponentially with the reality of it makes it no less worthy of exploration. An incredible piece of work, this photographic iconic title is a must-have for the serious Clark collector. An EXTREMELY RARE title. Offered here in NEW condition. The publication was LIMITED to 1000 copies. It is a softcover with pictorial boards, with numerous full-page black-and-white illustrations. This book is un-paginated (336 pages) and measures 10 ¾ x 8 ¼ inches. This title is in stock.
