Description
You won't find a nicer copy than this! Bound volume, July to December 1883 of the London Cornhill Magazine offers W. H. Hudson's first published story, "Pelino Viera's Confession" (here illustrated). Hudson's story is a precursor to his Green Mansions, written many years later. The story was not collected by Hudson until 1916 in Tales from the Pampas. As Hudson notes in a letter to John Galsworthy: "There is a story called 'Pelino Viera's Confession' which appeared many years ago in the Cornhill...and is an account of a witch woman...in Patagonia...I fancy as good as story as I have written." Lovely red cloth binding stamped in gilt. Reads on the spine: "Cornhill/Magazine/Pelino Viera' s Conversion"/W.H. Hudson/1883." One of the finest writers you'll ever come across. I have other Hudson original works in volumes of Longman's, the Eclectic, etc. Inquiries welcome. See photo.
